LAMINATE REWINDING MACHINE

Laminate Rewinding Machine
Manufacturer in India

SS Engineering Works has been manufacturing laminate rewinding machines, doctoring machines, and pouch printing machines in India since 2011. We supply to packaging converters, snack food manufacturers, and flexible packaging units across India. Our machines handle BOPP, polyester, nylon, aluminium foil laminates, and co-extruded films.

Running a packaging line and need a reliable rewinding or doctoring system? We build to your actual web width, material type, and speed requirement – not a standard catalogue configuration.

  • Web width: up to 1300 mm (custom widths available)
  • Handles BOPP, PET, CPP, aluminium foil, paper laminates
  • Surface and centre winding configurations available
  • Free installation & operator training included
  • Supplied to packaging converters across India since 2011

What Our Laminate Rewinding Machine Does

The laminate rewinding machine unwinds a parent roll, slits it to the required width, and rewinds it into finished rolls. The entire process runs automatically with minimal operator involvement once set up. Web tension is controlled throughout – finished rolls come out tight and even, without telescoping or edge variation.

  • Automatic tension control – dancer roller system maintains consistent web tension throughout the run
  • Programmable cut length and roll diameter – set once, runs automatically to target
  • Motorised unwind stand with brake system – controlled unwind speed for all material types
  • Slitting station – circular blade or razor blade options depending on material
  • Surface and centre winding – both configurations available on our machines
  • Digital counter – roll length and production tracking per shift
  • AC variable frequency drive – smooth speed control up to 200 metres per minute

Machine frame is heavy-gauge MS with SS304 on all web-contact parts. Web width runs up to 1300 mm standard; custom widths are available on request.

Machines We Manufacture

Pouch Printing Machine

Our pouch printing machine is a flexographic or gravure-compatible web-fed printing system for flexible packaging films. It prints brand artwork, product information, barcodes, and regulatory text directly onto BOPP, PET, CPP, and laminate film rolls before the pouch-forming stage. Snack manufacturers and packaging converters use this machine to run pre-printed roll stock in-house – eliminating the lead time and minimum order quantity constraints of outsourced pre-printed film.

The machine uses a registration system to keep print position consistent across the full run. This is critical for pouch forming lines where the sealing jaw must align with the artwork on every pouch. Our pouch printing machine handles single-colour to multi-colour printing with separate impression stations for each colour.

  • Flexographic printing system – single to multi-colour configurations
  • Compatible with BOPP, PET, CPP, nylon, and laminate films
  • Web registration control for consistent print-to-cut alignment
  • Suitable for snack pouches, spice packets, namkeen bags, confectionery wrappers
  • Web width: up to 1300 mm; speed: up to 150 metres per minute
  • Digital counter and production tracking per roll

Doctoring Machine

Our doctoring machine is used for inspection, defect marking, and re-reeling of flexible packaging film rolls. When a parent roll of printed or plain laminate comes in with splice joints, print defects, or gauge variation, the doctoring machine unwinds and re-reels it at controlled tension while an operator or automatic sensor system marks or removes defective sections. This is a standard step in quality control for packaging converters before film rolls are sent to pouch-forming or FFS (form-fill-seal) machines.

The doctoring machine is also used for rewinding purchased film rolls into smaller diameter or narrower width reels for different machines on the production floor – making it a flexible-use asset in any packaging operation that handles multiple film formats.

  • Inspection and defect marking during re-reeling
  • Controlled tension throughout – no telescoping or roll distortion
  • Handles printed and plain film: BOPP, PET, aluminium foil, paper laminate
  • Useful for QC before FFS machines and pouch-forming lines
  • Re-reeling to smaller diameter or narrower width for multi-machine floors
  • Web width: up to 1300 mm; speed: up to 200 metres per minute
  • Digital metre counter with auto-stop at preset roll length

Rewinder Machine

Our rewinder machine is a dedicated high-speed re-reeling system for flexible packaging film. Where the laminate rewinding machine combines slitting and rewinding in one pass, the standalone rewinder machine is optimised purely for speed and tension accuracy in re-reeling operations – used by packaging converters who need to rewind large-diameter jumbo rolls into multiple smaller finished rolls for dispatch or further processing.

The rewinder handles surface winding and centre winding configurations. Centre winding gives tighter rolls with more consistent hardness across the diameter – important for films going onto automated pouch-forming machines where inconsistent roll hardness causes tension variation and film breaks. Surface winding is simpler and suits softer films or materials where roll hardness is less critical.

  • High-speed re-reeling: up to 200 metres per minute
  • Surface winding and centre winding – both configurations available
  • Automatic tension control via dancer roller system
  • Handles BOPP, PET, CPP, nylon, aluminium foil, and paper laminates
  • Programmable roll diameter and length auto-stop
  • Web width: up to 1300 mm (custom widths available)
  • VFD drive for smooth acceleration and deceleration at roll changes

Materials Our Machines Handle

All three machines are compatible with the full range of flexible packaging substrates used in the Indian food and FMCG packaging industry:

  • BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) – standard snack and namkeen pouch film
  • PET / Polyester film – used in retort pouches and high-barrier laminates
  • CPP (Cast Polypropylene) – inner sealant layer in most food laminates
  • Nylon film – high-puncture-resistance applications
  • Aluminium foil laminates – spice packs, masala pouches, pharmaceutical strips
  • Paper laminates – kraft paper and coated paper packaging
  • Co-extruded films – multi-layer structures for barrier packaging

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of a laminate rewinding machine in India?

Price depends on web width, running speed, and configuration (slitting station, winding type, number of rewind shafts). Call +91 98184 89414 or fill the enquiry form for a detailed quote within 24 hours.

What is the difference between a rewinder machine and a doctoring machine?

A rewinder machine re-reels film rolls at high speed with tension control – its primary purpose is converting jumbo rolls into smaller finished reels. A doctoring machine does the same but adds an inspection stage – the operator or sensor system marks or removes defective sections during the re-reeling pass. Doctoring machines are used specifically for quality control before film goes to pouch-forming or FFS machines.

What films can your laminate rewinding machine handle?

Our machines handle BOPP, PET, CPP, nylon, aluminium foil laminates, paper laminates, and co-extruded films. Web width up to 1300 mm standard – custom widths available. If you have a specific material or gauge requirement, call us and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

What is the difference between surface winding and centre winding?

In surface winding, the film is wound by friction contact with a driven roller – simpler and suitable for softer films. In centre winding, the core shaft is directly driven – this produces tighter, harder rolls with more consistent hardness across the diameter. Centre winding is preferred for film going onto automated pouch-forming or FFS machines where inconsistent roll hardness causes tension variation and film breaks during production.
