What Our Kurkure Extruder Machine Includes

A full kurkure extruder machine line takes care of everything – from preparing raw cornmeal to putting the final flavour coating on it. All SS Engineering lines come with the following as standard:

  • Grid mixer – cornmeal preparation with exact control over moisture
  • Kurkure extruder – gelatinization chamber with a rotary knife cutter that makes sure shape and size are always consistent
  • Incline elevator – VFD-controlled belt speed for smooth, uninterrupted material flow
  • Rotary siever – removes fines and undersized particles before frying
  • Continuous fryer – submerger conveyor in SS304 with built-in oil filter to extend oil life
  • Mechanised hood lifting – safe, tool-free cleaning that does not stop production
  • De-oiling belt conveyor – VFD-controlled, removes extra frying oil from each piece
  • Slurry system with zig-zag drum – coats every piece with the same flavour evenly
  • Flavour drum – final seasoning and coating stage
  • PLC control panel with operator display – single-point monitoring and control for the full line

All parts that touch food are made of SS304 stainless steel. The built-in conveyor oil filter keeps frying oil cleaner for longer by constantly removing starch particles – this lowers your daily operating costs. Operators benefit from less variation between batches and faster changeover times, both of which are measurable contributors to production profitability.

Capacity Options

We make kurkure extruder machines in four standard capacity ranges:

Capacity Best For
100 kg/hr Small and medium snack manufacturers starting production
250 kg/hr Regional brands scaling up to meet growing demand
500 kg/hr Manufacturers running full production shifts
1000 kg/hr Large-scale industrial kurkure output

Most buyers start with 100 or 250 kg/hr and grow as demand increases. We have set up lines at 380 kg/hr and 720 kg/hr for clients whose requirements did not match a standard configuration – custom sizing is not extra, it is how we work. If your daily target sits between these figures, call us at +91 98184 89414 and we will configure the line to match your exact requirement.

Baked vs Fried Kurkure Lines

We manufacture both types. Here is what separates them:

Fried Kurkure Line

Uses a continuous fryer with submerger conveyor. Delivers the classic kurkure crunch and texture that Indian consumers expect. Suited to brands selling in mainstream namkeen and extruded snack markets.

Baked Kurkure Line

Replaces the frying stage with a hot air roasting system. Oil consumption drops to near zero during the cooking stage. Popular with brands targeting health-conscious buyers or export markets with oil restrictions.

Both lines use the same kurkure extruder, seasoning system, and flavour drum. Only the cooking stage differs. If you are unsure which one is right for your product, we will walk you through both options before you commit.

Machines We Manufacture

Kurkure Extruder

The kurkure extruder runs gelatinization inside a concentric dual-die cavity – one rotating die with 3 blades and grooves, one fixed with grooves only. The rotating die’s mechanical friction and pressure turn the raw cornmeal into gel without needing an outside heating element. The product expands in the small space between the two plates, and a circular knife ring on the rotor’s outer edge cuts each piece to the right size.

You can change the curl size by adjusting the gap or knife position. Swap the die plate entirely and the same kurkure extruder machine produces niknaks shape or corn puff shape – no separate machine needed for each format. This modular die system lets manufacturers add new SKUs to their product range without investing in multiple production lines.

  • Concentric dual-die gelatinization chamber – no external heat source
  • 3-blade rotary head with grooved counter-die
  • Circular knife ring – adjustable cut size for different formats
  • Interchangeable die plates – runs kurkure, niknaks, and corn puff on the same machine
  • Compatible with cornmeal, rice meal, and mixed grain blends
  • Pairs directly with our puffed snacks processing line for multi-format floors

Niknaks Making Machine – 100 to 1000 kg/hr

The niknaks making machine uses the same extruder machine for kurkure body. The die plate is the only thing that has changed – swap it out and the machine makes niknaks shape instead. Die change takes less than 30 minutes. If you want to run both formats in the same factory, you do not need a separate extruder.

We supply complete niknaks production lines from 100 kg/hr to 1000 kg/hr, with both fried and baked options, the same SS304 stainless steel build, same PLC panel, and same warranty. Clients include Haldiram, Bikaji, Bikano, and Patanjali.

  • Interchangeable die plate – switch between kurkure and niknaks in under 30 minutes
  • Fried and baked niknaks line both available
  • Capacity: 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000 kg/hr
  • PLC-controlled with SS304 surfaces throughout
  • Free installation and operator training at your factory
  • 1-year mechanical warranty on every line

Kurkure Baked Line – 100 to 1000 kg/hr

The automatic baked kurkure processing line does not need a fryer at all. The cooking stage is handled with hot air roasting. The same kurkure extruder and seasoning system are at both ends, but oil consumption drops to near zero in the middle. Built for manufacturers targeting health-conscious customers or export markets where oil content is restricted.

Capacity runs from 100 kg/hr to 1000 kg/hr. Most buyers starting on baked lines enter at 250 or 500 kg/hr.

  • Hot air roasting system – no frying oil required
  • Same kurkure extruder as the fried line
  • Uniform seasoning via flavour drum and slurry system
  • Capacity: 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000 kg/hr
  • PLC-controlled with SS304 food-contact surfaces throughout

Kurkure Frying Line – 100 to 1000 kg/hr

SS Engineering Works builds a fully automatic puff and kurkure making machine frying line from 100 kg/hr to 1000 kg/hr. The line includes a stainless steel hopper with dedicated PLC display, a flavouring dispenser for accurate salt and spice dosing, and a conveyor oil filter that continuously pulls starch particles out of the frying oil – cleaner oil means longer oil life and better product colour all shift long.

Seasoning goes into the drum in controlled amounts with a gentle tumbling motion. Most kurkure lines produce breakage during the flavouring stage due to overseasoning or rough handling. Ours does not. Clients include Haldiram, Bikaji, Bikano, and Patanjali.

  • Continuous kurkure fryer with submerger conveyor (SS304)
  • Conveyor oil filter – removes starch, extends oil life
  • Controlled stainless steel hopper with PLC display
  • Flavouring dispenser – precise salt and masala dosing
  • Zig-zag slurry drum for uniform flavour coating
  • De-oiling belt with VFD speed control
  • Capacity: 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000 kg/hr
  • Free installation, operator training, and 1-year mechanical warranty on every line

Kurkure Extruder Machine – Frequently Asked Questions

Questions we receive most often from buyers before ordering a kurkure extruder machine from SS Engineering Works.

How does a kurkure extruder machine work?

The kurkure extruder machine has two concentric dies – one rotating with 3 blades and grooves, one fixed. The cornmeal fed into the chamber is gelatinized purely by mechanical friction and pressure. There is no need for an outside heat source. The extruded strand exits at the rotor’s outer edge and is cut to size by a circular knife ring. The gap between the plates and the die plate design control the shape of the final product.

What is the kurkure extruder machine price in India?

Kurkure extruder machine price in India depends on the output capacity – 100 kg/hr, 250 kg/hr, 500 kg/hr, or 1000 kg/hr – and whether you need a fried or baked line. SS Engineering Works gives you a quote based on your exact floor layout and production requirement. Call +91 98184 89414 for a direct quote. We do not publish a kurkure making machine price list online because every line is configured to the buyer’s specification.

What raw material does a kurkure extruder use?

Cornmeal is the main raw material for a kurkure extruder. The machine also handles rice meal and mixed grain blends. The moisture content of the input meal is the critical variable – the grid mixer upstream controls this before the material enters the extruder. An incorrect moisture level affects both product texture and shape consistency.

Does kurkure contain plastic?

No. Whether kurkure has plastic in it is a common consumer question. Kurkure is made from cornmeal, rice flour, and seasoning – all food-grade ingredients. The misconception comes from the high heat during extrusion, which causes the cornmeal to gelatinize and produce a texture that some people wrongly associate with non-food materials. Our kurkure extruder machine processes only food-grade raw materials in SS304 stainless steel contact surfaces throughout.

What is pola kurkure and can your machine produce it?

Pola kurkure is the round, ring-shaped variant of extruded kurkure – as opposed to the standard curved curl shape. The same kurkure extruder machine produces pola kurkure by changing the die plate and adjusting the knife ring gap. No separate machine is needed. SS Engineering supplies the correct die plate configuration for pola shape as part of the machine order.

What is the kurkure manufacturing process step by step?

The kurkure manufacturing process follows these stages: (1) Cornmeal is mixed with water in the grid mixer to reach the correct moisture level. (2) The moistened meal is fed into the kurkure extruder machine where heat and pressure gelatinize it and the knife ring cuts it to shape. (3) Shaped pieces go through an incline elevator and rotary siever to remove undersized particles. (4) Pieces enter the continuous fryer or baked roasting system. (5) De-oiling conveyor removes excess oil. (6) Slurry system and flavour drum apply masala coating uniformly. (7) Finished kurkure goes to the packing station.

Can the same machine produce both kurkure and niknaks?

Yes. The puff and kurkure making machine body is identical for both formats. You change only the die plate – the swap takes under 30 minutes. The same machine also runs corn puff shape with a different die. If you plan to produce multiple snack formats in one factory, this is the most cost-efficient setup. SS Engineering supplies the correct die plates for each format with your order.

Do you provide installation and what warranty do you offer?

Installation and operator training at your factory are included with every kurkure extruder machine order at no extra charge. Our team travels to your site, commissions the full line, runs trial batches, and trains your operators before handover. Every machine carries a 1-year mechanical warranty on all parts. After the warranty period, an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) is available. Spare parts are dispatched directly from our Greater Noida factory with fast turnaround to minimise downtime.
